The NMC Bill 2019 was passed by parliament today with few amendments inspite of majority opposition parties speaking against it.
Unfortunately political expediency has taken over rationality & justice.
The irreparable ill effects on Medical Education,Profession & Health care delivery system will be felt for years to come.
Due to the sustained, Intense,Multi pronged efforts by the entire fraternity for nearly last 2 years it could be stalled in last parliament.
However due to the massive mandate in new parliament this bill, like others, was pushed through.
But don’t be depressed-All is not over,we will continue our efforts & struggle-still we will try to influence Presidential Assent,Framing of Rules & Regulations in coming 3 years and exploring Legal options.
Even the parliamentary debate on NMC revolved around the objectionable points raised by IMA only. All MPs mentioned IMA by name.
We succeeded in modifying certain provisions, get some amendments passed ,sensitising all stakeholders on this important issue. And once the ill effects of NMC will be seen & felt by all,it always will be recorded in history that IMA has foreseen & opposed it.
All black clouds have silver linings.
Our struggles has given a different strength & visibility to IMA-
The fraternity is more united,
IMA is being taken note by all concerned-Political class, Govt, Media, Community.
IMA is now being involved in certain policy making. IMA is looked upon by entire fraternity as an umbrella mother organisation,
Medical students & Young drs are getting involved with IMA,to name a few.
Now nobody can ignore IMA. Today they are only taking NOTE of us. If continue our efforts, Tomorrow our voice will be HEARD & ACCEPTED !
But still it’s a long way ahead.
We will have to continue our unity & efforts regardless of any other considerations.
So many issues plaguing the profession needs to be addressed.
Please remember ‘Only a powerful organisation can help its members in solving problems & only each one of us can give that strength to our own organisation.'
The day is not far off when we will achieve primary pole position in deciding the health policies of our country!!!
Let’s thank each one of the members, leaders, activists, students, young drs & all those who have & are contributing ,to this just struggle.
Jai Hind. Jai IMA.
